Safety First - Our "No" List

In the US, ingredients used in personal care products are considered safe until proven otherwise. Europe has taken a precautionary approach and only approves an ingredient for use once safety has been established through testing. The European Union’s approach will restrict some ingredients from use that are safe for use when used in small amounts. But the American approach might allow some unsafe ingredients to be used because the process of eliminating them is more difficult. The EU Cosmetics Directive (76/768/EEC) bans over 1300 chemicals from cosmetics.  In comparison, the U.S. FDA has only banned or restricted 11 chemicals from cosmetics. We have chosen to follow the more cautious EU approach and avoid ingredients that the European Union has prohibited and those on the California Proposition 65 warning list.Instead, we make every effort to use only ingredients that are good for the skin and your health. Please look carefully at what’s in your personal care products.
